Child Sex Tourism Forum in South Coast
April, 2012

The forum was held at Leisure Lodge resort where the members sought to find out what they could do to resolve the problem as well as what support was needed to eradicate the vice.

The meeting resolved the following:
•    KAHC to take immediate and appropriate measures with the relevant administrative authority to ensure that harsh punitive action is taken against offenders.
•    Model centre for rescued children be built, through donor funding, at the south coast as a public private sector initiative.
•    Hoteliers to organize sensitization seminars for their workers on Child Sex Tourism.
•    An empirical study be undertaken in all the Coastal tourist towns of Malindi, Kilifi, Mombasa and Diani to pinpoint operators culpable in Child Sex Tourism  and act as a basis for policy formulation

A six member committee was formulated to coordinate the implementation of the recommendations, it is hoped that these steps will help safeguard the innocent operators from negative publicity, as well as put a stop to this vice.
