TOURISM STANDARDIZATION WORKSHOPS 13TH NOVEMBER 2014.

Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) is a member of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and participates in international standardization. Tourism is a very important economic contributor. KEBS through its' Technical Committees on Tourism and Related Services and in cooperation with other stakeholders is spearheading development of Kenya Standards in the sector.

 

KEBS in conjunction with Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA), and in collaboration with the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), Kenya Coast Tourism Association (KCTA), and Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers (KAHC); hosted  a workshop on Standardization and Good Practice in Tourism and related services on 13th November 2014 at Sarova White Sands Beach Resor.

 

The workshop  raised awareness on existing standards and regulations, as well as offered a forum for stakeholders in the tourism industry in Kenya to share on the needs and challenges in the sector especially with regard to quality and good trade practices. This formed a basis for new items for standards development in the sector.
