KAHC was represented at a stakeholder’s forum on public beach safety awareness specifically touching on saving life and provide ample security to the public. The campaign is scheduled to take place on 17th April to 22nd April 2014.
The anticipated scenarios are:
· Overcrowding and traffic control
· The risk to swimmers of drowning
· Safety of Boats, Life equipment & Registration compliance
· First Aid cases attributable to sea urchins and accidental cuts
· Petty crime and sexual impropriety
· Drug peddling and misuse
· Pollution/Littering and Public health concerns
· Tracing & rehabilitation of lost children.
The Rescue Centers ear marked are:
· Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach – 54 support personnel
· Mombasa Beach - 15 support personnel
· Shelly Beach - 35 support personnel
· Mama Ngina – 17 support personnel
· Kenya Police – 29 pax to serve all the centre
The 150 support personnel will be needed in the four (4) Rescue Centers they will require refreshments, packed lunch, snacks and water. The lifeguards on the other hand will need used towels (150 pcs) and some blankets.
