OIL SPILL RESPONSE TRAINING

The Coast secretariat attended a training on oil spill response organized by OSMAG (Oil Spill Mutual Group). The attendees were taken through the process of Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique, which include: Reconnaissance survey, segmenting the shoreline, Developig clean up end points, Planning, team assignments and actual surveys. The team was also taken through the Challenges faced in preventing the smooth running of process, which include: Tides – buried oil, Access routes, Employment of equipment, Public drawing oil, Weather/climate, Communication a barrier, Waste management and Security.
