Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) organised a forum for all registered regional tourism associations to discuss ways and means of tourism stakeholder integration and come up with implementable and sustainable ways of utilising available resources to grow tourism before significant investment can be injected to grow the sector in specific areas.
This forum was necessitated by the fact that provisions in the new constitutions has decentralised authority and development mandate to the counties, and the realisation that the private sector has not made signification strides in establishing and building the capacity of strong regional/county based institutions which will grow tourism in those areas as most of our operations both in government and private sector have traditionally been operated from Nairobi and Mombasa.
In view of the foregoing, KTF had a one day forum which was held in early April and in which the Association was represented by the CEO.
