AWARD OF FIRST KENYA CHILD LABOUR FREE CERTIFICATION

The Secretariat attended the a media breakfast on 5th  February 2014 which was hosted by the International NGO, CESVI, to launch the first ever initiative in Kenya aimed at awarding business companies with the “Child Labour Free Standard”

The event was informed on a successful completion of the first phase of the project "Child Labour Free Certification program" launched in January, 2013 implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, the FKE and COTU. The program saw the involvement of business entities in elimination of child labour from their supply chain and incorporation of children rights in their activities.

During the event, companies which had satisfied the requirements based on a corporate social responsibility win-win option for companies and communities through internal and external audits were awarded with a Certification for the Child Labour Free Certification Label which will be displayed on their products.
