From the heights of the Mt. Kenya in the central reaches of Kenya to the shores of the Lake Victoria, the second-largest fresh water lake in the world, to the plains of the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, recently voted the seventh wonder of the natural world, the General Region covers most of the country.

The Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers boasts of a wide membership in across the country and guarantees a diverse product range and world-class service standards that is un-matched in the region.

Under this category falls hotels and lodges situated in and around major urban towns and cities such as Kisumu, Nakuru, Naivasha and Eldoret. Membership also includes camping sites, game lodges situated in and around game reserves and parks such as the Tsavo East and West Game Reserves, Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Nakuru National Park, Samburu Game Reserve et al.

This vast region offers a wide range of attractions that range from the annual wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve that occurs between June and September. This is the largest wildlife migration on earth that involves more than one million wildebeests, half-a-million zebras and over 200,000 gazelles in their annual march across the treacherous waters of the Mara River south into the Serengeti Game Reserve in northern Tanzania.

Other attractions include the Lake Nakuru National Park, home to one of the world's largest concentration of flamingos. The park is considered an important bird area (IBA) and is a favourite stop-over point for migratory birds from Europe. The park is also an important wildlife conservation area for the endangered white rhino and Rothschild giraffe.
